FJS 2017: Call for Applications International “Spring Symposium”


On behalf of the International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN) and the German Chemical Society we are proud to offer six fellowships for your participation to the Spring Symposium (Frühjahrssymposium) in Mainz, Germany /GER March, 28th - April, 1st 2017 organized and conducted by the regional group of the JungChemikerForum (JCF) of the German Chemical Society (GDCh). The annual conference is the main event of the young chemists network in Germany and is a beneficial networking opportunity for early career chemists with a desire to expand their international networks.

We offer:

  • One week (26.3.-2.4.2017) of science and social activities in Mainz, Germany

  • Unique international exchange opportunity in Germany and participants from over 20 nations

  • Global networking access

  • Mentoring from experienced chemists in varying fields

  • site visits of local chemical industries

  • Round-trip flights from your home to Frankfurt

  • Six nights stay in a local hotel

  • Conference registration

Eligibility:

Any young motivated researcher especially those from under represented countries in chemistry (master level and early PhDs). Applicants should not be more than 30 years by January 1st, 2017 and have to present actively in the conference (poster or talk)

If you are qualified and interested in this opportunity, please provide the following materials (pdf max 3 MB) to michael.linden@org.chemie.uni-giessen.de and copy iycn@iupac.org by January 1st, 2017 date:

  • Short letter of recommendation of your supervisor or mentor.

  • Application letter detailing your suitability, motivation, how the fellowship will be helpful for your career growth and a brief statement indicating what international collaboration means to you.

  • Certificates of all degrees received and admission letter if a student.

  • CV (max. 2 pages, table form)

  • Abstract of your research (half page + figure or scheme)
