Korfii Uebari

Committee/Position: Conference Presence, Committee Member


Korfii Uebari graduated and received his master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry from the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt (Nigeria) in 2020. Currently, he is the lead consultant at Study Plus Hub. He reviews articles for the Edelweiss Publications, American Journal of Agricultural Science, Engineering and Technology, Global Journal of Chemical Sciences at Coalesce Research Group. Korfii is a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria and also a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) West Africa Alumni. His research interests include environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, communication in sciences and environmental policies.

 

Riya Rajayyan

Committee/Position: Governance, Committee Member


Riya Rajayyan is a college student from Mumbai, India and is currently in her second year of Bachelor's in Chemistry. Along with that she works as a Content Writer and Editor for a socio-political news page and also volunteers to write for an NGO. Writing, art and literature has played a pivotal role in shaping her perspectives towards things and she believes to use her artistic and scientific abilities to the fullest.







 

Giulia Moncelsi

Committee/Position: International Society Liaison, Committee Member


Giulia Moncelsi studied chemistry at the University of Perugia in Italy, where she carried out both her BSc. and MSc. studies. Afterwards, she moved to sunny Tarragona in Spain to pursue her PhD in supramolecular and organic chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ). In April 2020 she started working at Elsevier as Customer Consultant, providing support to A&G customers in northern Europe as their trusted advisor on the Life Sciences portfolio, including Reaxys & Reaxys Medicinal Chemistry, Embase and PharmaPendium databases.


As of 2020, Giulia is the main organizer and coordinator of the IUPAC Global Women’s breakfast local Tarragona chapter. She volunteered in the Barcelona-based Scientists Dating Forum (SciDF) association from 2020 to 2021, acting as facilitator in a workshop for graduate students at UB and managing new contacts to curate a database of partner organizations and individual delegates for the manifesto 'Saliendo con Ciencia' (saliendoconciencia.org) in partnership with Ciencia con Futuro.

Hossny Ismail

Committee/Position: Public Outreach, Committee Member


Hossny Ismail studied chemistry at Alexandria University, Egypt. He received his Bachelor in Chemistry degree with honors in 2013. Afterwards, he joined the drilling chemicals industry as a development chemist. In 2015, Hossny joined SERP Chem Erasmus Mundus joint master course. Hossny did his master’s research project at the bio-organic chemistry group of the University of Genoa, Italy. He worked on the photoredox-catalyzed synthesis of isochromanones in batch and under continuous flow conditions. In 2018, Hossny joined The Dow Chemical Company as a Technical Service & Application Development Specialist for polyurethanes. He is currently based in Cairo, Egypt. Hossny is responsible for the polyurethane consumer comfort applications and leading the spray polyurethane development in Middle East and Africa. Alongside academics, Hossny co-founded an international student chapter of the American Chemical Society at Alexandria University and he serves as a graduate student advisor up to date.

  • ACS International Student Chapter Insurance Trust Travel Award, 2018 (256th American Chemical Society National Meeting and Exposition Boston, MA).

  • Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, 2015 from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency - European Commission.

 

Dimitra Pournara

Committee/Position: Social Media, Committee Member


Dimitra Pournara received her M.Sc. in Chemistry in 2014 from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany and her Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Athens (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece) in 2018. She has worked on the design and multi-step organic syntheses of a series of inhibitors targeting P2X7 receptor and inflammasome activation and she is currently working as a Medical Writer at Ashfield MedComms, an Inizio Company.

  • 2015-2018 Fellowship of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation for PhD studies.
